Alfred "Big Al" Rastetter, 84, of Kent, died Thursday, August 26, 2010 surrounded by his family. He was born December 14, 1925 in Alliance to Alfred H. and Minerva (Miller) Rastetter. He was a veteran of the Navy in WWII and served in the Pacific. The highlight of Al's working career came after retiring from BF Goodrich in 1987. In partnership with his son, Steve, they founded Cosar Mold. Al found great satisfaction in the many special bonds he formed with the Cosar employees and it's customers. Al will be deeply missed by his family and many friends, especially those from Manchester Ave. and the University Newman Center Parish where he and his wife were active members. He is survived by his wife, Claire (Allan), whom he married on November 25, 1955; sons, Steve (Candy) Rastetter of Kent, Joe (Joyce) Rastetter of Maple Grove, MN, Greg (Edith) Rastetter of Plainfield, IL; daughters, Patricia (Gary) Papes of Stow, and Mary (Montie) Hardman of Kent; grandchildren, Brandi (Nathan) Timberlake of Kent, Jessica (Paul) McEwuen of Rootstown, Steve and Jennifer Rastetter of Kent, Christopher and Courtney Papes of Stow, Matthew, Anna, and Jackson Rastetter of Maple Grove, MN, Denise and Montie Hardman Jr. of Kent, Renee (Hossein) Belyadi who is studying in France, Lyly, Monica, and Ezra Rastetter of Plainfield, IL; great grandchildren, Nathan and Nicholas Timberlake, and Maxwell and William McEwuen. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother C. James Rastetter, and sisters Agnes Schwartzhoff and Dorothy Brown. Calling hours will be held 5-8 PM Friday, September 3rd at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, September 4th at The University Parish Newman Center with Fr. Chris Luoni officiating. Burial will be in Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent.
