Alice Mary Elizabeth Peterhansen, 90, of Kent, died Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at her home.
She was born December 12, 1923 in Ravenna, to Pasquale and Gionenna (Gsue) DeGregio. Alice graduated from Kent Roosevelt H.S in 1942. Alice was an avid Cleveland Browns fan, a Kardic Kid through and through, Brian Sipe could do no wrong. Alice could call the plays, run the plays, whoop and holler from her living room just as if she were right there in the dawg pound. She so enjoyed playing cards with family and friends at family gatherings. She lived for her children always listening, but only gave advice in her roundabout way. Alice always seemed to know things without being told and when asked how she always replied, "A little birdie told me!" funny that the little birdie was never wrong.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jeanie Kaminski, her very true and loyal friend. A special thank you to Barb Simpson of Passport Services for all of her work in arranging for care during her time at home. Thanks is also extended to the staff at Hospice of Summa. Candice who was amazing in the care she gave our mom as the days passed she was not only there for mom, but she turned into our little sister, "We Love You Candy!!" A friend of Valarie's asked her what flower she would pick and she replied, "The prettiest and best smelling one." and he replied, "That is what the Lord did today. He picked the best one."
She is survived by her children, Paula (Jim) Jones of Ravenna, Donna Russell of Kent, Donald "Butch" (Laura) Gillespie of Ravenna, Dean Gillespie of Kent, Bearington "Spitz" (Judi) Peterhansen of Brimfield, DeAnn (Bill) Kennedy of Jacksonville, FL and Delores Peterhansen of Oklahoma; sixteen grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.
