Anne L. Giet (nee Searl), 90, of Brimfield, passed away peacefully in her home May 26, 2017.
Anne was born in Ravenna on November 15, 1926, the daughter of Frank and Jennie Searl. She graduated from Ravenna High School in 1944.
After marrying her husband of nearly 70 years, Edward E. Giet of Kent in 1947, she raised her two daughters in Kent. She and her husband ran their family business together before retiring and moving to Brimfield in 1974.
Preceded in death by her brother, Charles (Elizabeth) Searl; her niece, Cheryl Searl; and her sister Geraldine (Palmer) Knickerbocker. She is survived by her husband, Edward Giet; daughters, Patricia (Richard) Barone and Carol (Robert) Wilson; grandchildren, Carrie (Vincenzo) Pezzaniti, Sarah (Michael) Shannon, Emily (Jason) Paul, Megan (Steven) Bartley, and Christopher Barone; great-grandchildren, Hadley, Colin, Kenley, Annamaria, Taylin, Vincenzo, Sydney, Robert, and Lola; and two nieces and a nephew.
Anne was strong willed and strong-minded right up to the end of her life. She enjoyed traveling with her family, playing cards and hosting family gatherings. She was a loving and devoted grandmother; attending every sporting event, recital, awards ceremony and graduation for her five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She will be missed dearly and will continue to be an inspiration.
Calling hours will be held Friday, June 2nd 6-8pm at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home, 628 W. Main St., Kent. Funeral services will be held Saturday June 3rd at 2pm at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 313 N. Depeyster St., Kent.
