Arlene Garvin, of Kent, died Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Regency Hospital in Ravenna. She was born in Newton Falls, to Carl and Mildred (Bloomer) Gepper and was a resident of Kent since 1957. She was a member of the United Church of Christ since 1965 and served on various committees at the church and was a member of Circle E. Arlene was a former member of Kent BPW. She was a realtor for many years and was a member of the Portage County, State Association, and National Association of Realtors. She served as secretary-treasurer for the Portage County Board of Realtors for six years. She was named Portage County Realtor of the Year in 1979. Arlene was a member of the Kent Historical Society. She was active in Cub Scouts and Brownie Scouts with her children. She was involved in PTA at all levels. She is survived by son, Gary (Lynda) Garvin of North Olmsted; daughter, Shari (Jeff) Fisher of Croton; grandchildren, Jeffery Fisher of Croton and Lindsay (Heath) Keaton of Sabina; great grandchildren, Ryan Fisher, Mitchell Keaton, Rylee Fisher, Gavin Keaton and Brooklyn Keaton; and brother, Harold Gepper of Garrettsville. She was preceded in death by her son, Terry Garvin; father and mother, Carl and Mildred Gepper; sister, Lillian Gepper; and brother, Lester Gepper. Memorial services will be held 1:30 PM Saturday, February 20 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. David Pattee officiating. Calling hours will be held one and a half hours preceding the services.
