Arthur "Dusty" Rhodes

Arthur "Dusty" Rhodes, 61, of Stow passed away Monday, January 19, 2015 at Akron City Hospital Hospice Center.

Dusty was born November 2, 1953 to William and Betty Rhodes of Kent. Dusty was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Rockton Lodge #316 in Kent. He enjoyed fishing and riding his Harley. He spent much of his childhood at the John Brown Tannery (Portage Salvage), which his family owned. In the late 1970's and early 1980's he enjoyed skydiving and was also a member the Brady Lake Volunteer Fire Dept. Dusty and his wife, Nancy operated Fishcreek Farms egg business throughout the mid 1980's. Dusty also loved racing stock cars and mini sprints with M.O.R.E. racing club throughout the early '90's in Barberton. Dusty was co-owner of City Glass and Mirror in Kent throughout the 1980's and early 1990's. He also drove truck, owned and operated DNJ refinishing, INC. and worked as custodian and school bus driver for Kent City Schools. Most recently, Dusty owned Mr. D's Market in Twin Lakes and was known by many as "The Sausage King of Northeast Ohio." He loved animals, and had a soft spot for dogs, especially his beloved dachshund, Fritz.

Dusty is survived by his wife of 32 years, Nancy (Shaffer) Rhodes of Stow. Also survived by his son, William (Alice) Rhodes of Tallmadge and daughter, Jennifer (John) Briggs of Kent; as well as his brother Michael (Cindy) Rhodes of Minnesota and nieces Christine Ford and Sarah Rhodes of Minnesota. Dusty was preceded in death by his parents William and Betty Rhodes.

Private funeral services have taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rockton Lodge, 409 West Main Street, Kent, OH 44240.
