Audrienne Harmon Galizio, 90, of Kent, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Altercare of Stow.
She was born December 24, 1926 on Summit Street in Kent to Joseph G.K. and Florence Irene (Kiser) Miller. She attended Kent State University School and graduated from the St. Thomas School of Nursing. She started as a nurse at St. Thomas Hospital and then went to work at the Kent State University Health Center, where she retired as Assistant Director. She served on the board of the Portage County Home Preventorium. After retirement she volunteered at Coleman Professional Services.
She was an avid gardener who especially loved orchids, even having one named after her. She was also an Ice Skater and Violinist. She read two books a week up until recently. She and her husband were avid Kent State University Athletic supporters and members of the Blue and Gold Club. She loved to travel about the world with her family. She will be remembered most of all for her love of her family.
She is survived by her sons, J. Mark (Kate) Galizio of Kure Beach , NC, Ross Galizio of Houston, TX, and Kim (Carolyn) Galizio of Kent; grandchildren, Christopher (Elyse) Galizio, Benjamin (Tionna) Galizio, and Annie Galizio; great grandchildren, Lella Galizio, Emilia Galizio, Mae Galizio, and Edwin Galizio; brother-in-law, Ben (Carole) Galizio of California; sisters-in-law, Lucille Spicer of Hartville and Janet Galizio of Hartville; and many loving nieces and nephews, including Andy Miller, who she helped raise. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph P. Galizio, grandchildren, Joey Galizio and Rachel Galizio; and brothers, Col. J. G. K. Miller Jr. and Charles M. Miller.
The family wishes to thank the UH Hospice nurse, Heather, and the Visiting Angel, Cathy; as well as her loving friends and neighbors.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, May 15th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory with Kevin O'Brien officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the services.
