Bayani G. Salcedo

Bayani G. Salcedo, 84, of Akron, died Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Akron City Hospital Medical Center.

He was born October 11, 1930 in Manila, Philippines, to Filemon M. and Leoncia (Gonda) Salcedo. By profession, he was a civil engineer, having worked many years for the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Engineering Division/Services Branch of Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. He was a member of the Firestone Presbyterian Church in Akron. Bayani was also a life-long Mason, a Past Master of the Arawa Lodge #18, Past Master of Lodge Perla del Oriente # 1034, Past Presiding Officer of C.W. Rosenstock Cahpter #6 Royal Arch Masons, Past Secretary of the Luzon ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, all in the Philippines. He was a 53-year member of the Asiya Shrine in San Mateo, California. Bayani was also a member of the Kalaw Chapter #9 Order of the Eastern Star

He is survived by daughters, Christienne S. Wallingford of Austin, TX and Deanna (Walt) Winn of Ashburn, VA; son, Constans Salcedo of Los Angeles, CA; nephew, Florencio "Boris" Marquinez Jr. of Kent; grandchildren, Ronnie, Alan, David and Phillip Wallingford of Austin, TX; sisters, Lydia S. Marquinez of Kent and Virginia S. Obach of Cincinnati; brother, Eduardo Salcedo of Calistoga, CA; half-sister, Morna Lonca of Buffalo, NY; half-brothers, Filemon Salcedo IV and Emanuel Salcedo, both of the Philippines; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Leonila S. Perez, and brothers, Filemon Jr., Jaime and Reynaldo Salcedo.

Calling hours will be held 6-8 PM Monday, March 16th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent, with Masonic Services at 6:00PM. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, March 17th at Firestone Presbyterian Church, 275 South Firestone Boulevard, Akron with Pastor Sue Curtis officiating. Burial will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 17th at Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent. Memorial contributions may be made to Firestone Presbyterian Church, 275 South Firestone Boulevard, Akron, Ohio 44301 or the Shriners Children's Hospital Cincinnati, Burn Care and Cleft Lip and Palate, 3229 Burnet Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45229.
