Beatrice Winchell Smith, 92, of Kent, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Robinson Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 26, 1919, in Columbus, to W. D. and Mabel F. (Bond) Winchell. Bea continued to live in Columbus until her retirement in 1984. She worked as an Executive Secretary for the State of Ohio. She enjoyed sewing, baking, taking care of her home and family. Bea's ancestor came to the U.S. aboard the Mayflower and her family was one of the founding families of Portage County.
The family would like to thank Robinson Hospice and the Aide's from Interim for their loving care.
She is survived by daughters, Sandy (Mark) Shilling of Kent and Julie (William) Wise of Munroe Falls; grandchildren, Tiffany (Stephen) Fedor of Ravenna, Aimee (Mike) Evans of Springfield, MO, Jeff Wise of Kent,, Elizabeth (Ben) Osborne of Cleveland, Chris Shilling of Kent and Erik Shilling of Brooklyn, NY; great grandchildren, Pearce, Ella, Jordyn, Kade, Judah, Lucy; and nephew, Ron Winchell of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marguerite Carroll; brothers, Dexter, Kenneth and Howard Winchell; and nephew, Mike Winchell.
Calling hours will be held 6-8 PM Monday, November 14th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 15th at Lake Brady United Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Poulin and Rev. Don Shilling officiating. Burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery.
