Beatrice "Bea" Wilson passed away on November 17, 2014. Born December 11, 1927 in Akron to Paul and Fern Haushalter, she remained in Akron until moving to Tallmadge in 1959. In 1987, she then moved to Kent, living there for 18 years before moving to Stow, where she resided until her death.
She was employed by the Tallmadge City Schools as a secretary for 26 years until retiring in 1996. During this time she also worked for several years part-time at the General Nutrition Center at Chapel Hill Mall.
A longtime member of the Church of Our Saviour Episcopal Church in Akron, she joyfully sang in the choir for 20 years and also played in the hand bell choir for several years. She loved the Episcopal Church liturgy and its music, especially the pipe organ.
Her love of music included both classical and semi-classical. From an early age she played the piano and spent many hours at the keyboard over the years. Some of her fondest memories were of the operas she attended and time spent at Chautauqua Institute near Jamestown, New York. She also enjoyed the theatre and other classical arts.
As it was part of her heritage, Bea always had a very special affection throughout her life, for the culture and history of England. Later in life, she was fortunate to be able to travel twice to England, once with her daughter and the other time with her son. As part of these trips a few other personal wishes were fulfilled. She and her daughter sailed on the QEII and rode on the Orient Express and she then had the thrill of her lifetime flying with her son aboard the Concorde from New York to England.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first born child, Jeffrey Brenton Reed; sisters, Louise Zeber in January 2003 and Miriam Holland in October 2011.
Surviving are her beloved children, Julie Wilson, and husband, Douglas Pickard, of Mansfield; and son, Timothy Wilson of Akron. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Sunday, November 23rd at Christ Episcopal Church, 118 South Mantua St., Kent, where she became a member later in life. The Reverend Julie Fisher will officiate. Private burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Cuyahoga Falls.
