Benjamin C. Rizzo

June 7, 1987 — March 11, 2016

Benjamin Rizzo lost his battle with addiction on March 11, 2016. Benjamin's family, friends and the world lost a creative, funny and loving man.

Benjamin was born June 7, 1987. He graduated from Rootstown High School in 2006 where he was a member of the soccer and track teams. Benjamin was also a graduate of Kent State University's School of Art.

Benjamin grew up in Rootstown and spent a wonderful childhood with his family and friends- swimming, sailing, fishing and ice skating. He was home-schooled until fourth grade by his mom and a wonderful group of children, parents and community members. This gave Benjamin an opportunity to develop many of his own interests, including his love of art in which he later earned a degree from Kent State. Benjamin's attraction to extreme sports started in elementary school. He loved skateboarding and snowboarding, and spent hours tracking skateboarding professionals. His skillfulness as a handyman enabled him to build his own rails and ramps which he shared with other skateboard enthusiasts. Benjamin enjoyed many wonderful vacations in Cocoa Beach, FL with our friends and the Carolina beaches. He was a natural at skim boarding and transferred his skating tricks to the beach. Benjamin had a passion for weight lifting with his brother Gabe at Buckeye Gym in Tallmadge, and spending time with his many friends. He also had a passion for pitbulls and pitbull rescues, and dearly loved his dog, Leo.

Benjamin was a dreamer, and had so much talent and so many great ideas which will now go unfulfilled. His beautiful blue eyes and adventurous spirit melted the hearts of many. Please pray that the peace he could not find on this earth is now his. God be with you, Benj. We love you with all our hearts and already miss you so much.

Benjamin was preceded in death by his grandparents Jack and Dorothy Conyers, Ralph Rizzo, and aunt Donna Conyers.

Survivors include his loving parents Christopher Rizzo and Diane Conyers-Rizzo, his brother Gabriel Rizzo, grandmother Evelyn Rizzo, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Calling hours are Wednesday, March 16, 4:30-6:30 p.m., followed by a short service, at Bissler and Sons Funeral Home, 628 West Main Street, Kent, Ohio.
