MOTHER DEAR
IN MEMORIES BOOK THERE'S ONE SO SWEET
WHICH MADE MY CHILDISH LIFE COMPLETE.
NOTHING DRIED AWAY EACH TEAR,
LIKE THOSE HANDS OF MOTHER DEAR.
WHEN I WAS ONLY BUT A TOT,
SHE DID FOR ME AN AWFUL LOT.
NOTHING DROVE AWAY EACH FEAR,
LIKE THOSE WORDS FROM MOTHER DEAR.
IN LIFE'S SCROLL HER NAME STANDS OUT
FOR SHE'S SO SWEET TO THINK ABOUT.
SO LOVING AND KIND WITH A SMILE OF CHEER,
THAT SAINT OF GOD MY MOTHER DEAR.
MEMORY NOW LEAVES A CHERISHED THOUGHT,
OF PLEASURE AND JOY HER KINDNESS HAS BROUGHT.
THEN BEYOND THOSE GATES SOMEDAY I'LL HEAR,
THAT SWEET VOICE OF MOTHER DEAR.
