Betty Louise (Lorcher) Habowski

March 23, 1928 — August 2, 2020

Betty Louise (Lorcher) Habowski passed away peacefully at her home in Kent on Sunday, August 2, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. The Habowski Family gathered every Sunday for hours of fun and food, so it was only fitting that Betty was surrounded be her cherished family one last Sunday. Betty was one of the most kindest, loving people you would ever be so lucky to meet. She had the best belly laugh, and she dedicated her life to taking care of her family and making a lifetime of memories that will be cherished by those who loved her. Betty was born March 23, 1928 in Sandusky, Ohio. She was dearly loved by her parents, Darrell (Mike) and Viola Moyer. Betty married Edward Joseph Habowski on February 10, 1950, and they were the proud parents of four girls. She grew up in Sandusky and Steubenville, Ohio before she and Edward chose Kent, Ohio to raise their family. Betty had a great time volunteering for the Camp Fire Girls of America when her daughters were young. Betty was the best cook, and her family recipes will be treasured always. She loved craft shows, spending time with her grandchildren, and a really good cup of coffee. Betty was so loved by her surviving daughters, Anita Wedlake, Barbara (John) Baker, and Jeanine Ray; grandchildren, Tina (Matt) Darkow, Ryan (Kristi) Baker, Benjamin Baker, Shannon (Miguel) Witt, Samantha (Aaron) Loeffler, Paul (Kelly) Swigart III, Thomas (Lindsey) Ray, and Heather Ray-Miller; and her many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, and her daughter, Carol Habowski-Swigart. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date, when such gathering are considered safe. In the meantime, the family asks you honor Betty’s memory by enjoying a good cup of coffee, having a good laugh, and telling your loved ones how much they mean to you. Memorial contributions can be made in Betty’s name to the Portage County Animal Protective League.
