Betty Hoopes

Betty Hoopes, age 103, died December 24, 2023 in Ravenna, Ohio.   Born August 11, 1920 in Cleveland, Ohio, She was the daughter of Henry and Bertha Forster and 1938 graduate of Hiram High School. Betty lived most of her adult life in Mantua. She was a talented seamstress, enjoyed traveling, ballroom dancing and doing puzzles.  A 69-year member of Eastern Star, she served two terms as Worthy Matron.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert and her sister Gertrude. She was a loving mother to Kathie Lentz, Don, and David (Jeanne); grandmother to Laura (Paul and his daughter, Hailey), Amy (Matt), Jayson, Patrick (Mary), Andrea (Amber) and Valerie and great grandmother to Alden, Haley, Ingrid, Margot and Maxine. She was also proud of her Swedish heritage and treasured her relationships with cousins in Sweden.

The family wants to extend special appreciation to the staff of Vista Veranda (especially Nurse Rhoda) and Affinity Health Care for their care and kindness.

Burial services will be private. Memorials may be made in her honor to the Kent Free Library Foundation, 312 W. Main St. Kent, OH 44240.
