Betty S. Lang, 94, of Kent, died Sunday, January 31, 2016.
She was born November 5, 1921 in Suffield to Justin and Edith (Hughes) Shardine. She graduated in 1939 as valedictorian from Suffield High School and she graduated from KSU in 1943. She taught English at Randolph High School. She married Walter Lang in Washington DC on June 14, 1945. She managed a busy family of five children and their friends while her husband practiced pediatrics in Kent. She was avid reader, and loved cross word puzzles and traveling. She was a member of Twin Lakes Country Club, Coterie III, and the Kent State Alumni Association.
She is survived by her children, Sally Lang of Chagrin Falls, Mary (Joe Thompson) Lang of Kent, Larry (Lori) Lang of Ravenna, John (Annette) Lang of Kent, and Julie (Ian Lilley) Lang of Kent; grandchildren, Emily (Andrew) Miller of Cuyahoga Falls, Alexis Lang of Chicago, IL, Victoria Lang of Ravenna, Dylan Thompson of Kent, and Quinn Thompson of Kent; and great grandchild, Anders Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lang In 2004; and brother, Robert Shardine.
Calling hours will be held 1-3 PM Thursday, February 4th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent followed by funeral services at 3:00 PM with Father James P. Lang officiating.
