Betty Jean Pierson, 91, of Sebring, OH, died Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Copeland Oaks in Sebring, OH.
She was born April 24, 1921 in Toledo, OH to George and Lottie ((Morgan)) King.
She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Toledo and her Masters in Education from Kent State University. Betty retired from Kent City Schools, where she taught at Franklin Elementary School. She was a member of The United Methodist Church of Kent, Portage County Retired Teachers, National Audubon Society, and Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.
She is survived by her sons; Donald (Kathy) Pierson of Lake Forest, IL,
Richard (Susan) Pierson of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Thomas Pierson of Cuyahoga Falls; grandchildren, Craig (Beth) Pierson of Lake Bluff, IL, Kate (Tom) Fitzwilliams of Baraboo, WI.; great grandchildren, John Graham Pierson, George Pierson Fitzwilliams, Gabe Thomas Fitzwilliams, Anna Grace Pierson; brother, James Earl King of Monroe, MI; and sister, Alice Winter of Lakeland, FL.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Dr. Carl T. Pierson, who served as Senior Pastor of the Kent United Methodist Church from 1958 until 1983.
Calling hours will be held 3:00PM until 4:00PM Sunday, June 10 at United Methodist Church of Kent 1435 E. Main Street Kent, OH, where a Memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM with Rev. Dr. David Palmer and Rev. Douglas Denton officiating. Private family burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery.
