Betty Whittam, 80, of Kent, died Thursday, July 8, 2010 at her home. She was born July 27, 1929 in Cleveland to Anton and Bertha (Smolka) Skulina. She was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna. She loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially loved hearing about her grandson's baseball games. Betty loved to go dancing and was an avid bingo player. She is survived by son, George (Karen) Racheck of Akron; daughter, Donna (Tim) Taylor of Tallmadge; four grandchildren, Gail, David, Joshua, and Larissa; six great grandchildren, Tyler, Dylan, Greg, Isaiah, Mariah, and Gionna; brother, Norman (Aileen) Skulina of Mayfield, KY; sister, Nancy (Frank) Medved of Bedford, OH; and her longtime companion, John Solinsky of Kent. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Racheck, sisters, Ruth Skulina and Eleanor Sedivy; brothers, Robert Skulina, Ray Skulina, and Richard Skulina. Calling hours will be held 10am til 12 noon Wednesday, July 14th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Private burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Cleveland.
