Blanche Pollock, 98, of Kent, died Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Woodlands at Robinson.
She was born August 16, 1916 in Cotton Grove, NC to Charlie C. and Sallie (Warfford) Wrenn. Blanche attended Catawba College, then Presbyterian Hospital where she received her RN degree. Her nursing career spanned many areas of medicine including psychiatric nursing, private duty nursing, eye, ear nose and throat clinic and eventually geriatric care. She spent most of her career in Monroe, NC, where she served as night supervisor for the Union County Hospital and eventually was the nurse for the practice of Dr. E. F. Hamer. When she retired from nursing, she lived with her daughters Christine in Ohio or Jennie in Georgia. Blanche was a wonderful influence on the children in those households and they will always remember Nana with much love. She was a tremendous reader and enjoyed reading books focusing in all disciplines. She explored the religious philosophies of various cultures and seemed to adopt parts of each. She went to India twice and loved the people there. Blanche was non-judgmental, a great listener and enjoyed caring for others. She made everyone feel perfectly okay being exactly who they are.
She is survived by daughters, Christine (T.N.) Bhargava of Kent, Pat (Larry) Severs of Clermont, FL and Jennie Ayers of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Ravi Bhargava, Tina Bhargava, Anil Bhargava, Mary McKee, Todd Severs, Brian Severs, Mark Severs, Chris Ayers and Aaron Ayers; seven great grandchildren; brother, Willis Wrenn; sisters, Maurice Tanner and Jean Andrews; son-in-law, Carol Eury.
