C. Bernetta Crock Wiencek, age 80 of Laurel Lake Retirement Village, Hudson and formerly of Southern Pines (North Carolina), Kent and Streetsboro, went to the loving arms of God on May 5, 2012. She was born in Streetsboro on September 16, 1931 to Leo & Clara (Hohman) Crock. Bernetta graduated from Streetsboro High School as Valedictorian of her class and from Bohecker's Business College. She retired from Kent State University as Assistant to the Vice President for Business Affairs and Budget Officer after 37 years of service. Bernetta and her husband, Bob, moved to Southern Pines North Carolina, where they enjoyed golf, bridge, cards, and many friends, then returned to Ohio in 2000. They enjoyed extensive travel, lunch, golf and cards with former neighbors and friends. Bernetta belonged to several bridge clubs.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Bob Wiencek, on June 19, 2003; her parents; sisters: Margaret Wagner and Mary Trommer; brothers: Bernard, Edward, Francis, Clement, George, Gilbert and Christopher Crock; godson/nephew: Eric Hirt; nephews: David Crock and George Harris; and great nephews: Troy Schlegel and Joseph DeForest. Bernetta is survived by her sister, Katie Hirt Norman of North Canton; sisters-in-law: Kathleen Crock, Jeanette Crock, Jean Crock and Ann Quigg; brother-in-law, Joe Wiencek (Edie); and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Hudson. Her beautiful smile and pleasant personality will be missed by family & friends. Bernetta's family is grateful for the excellent and tender care given her by the Staff of the Intensive Care and Palliative Care Units at Akron City Hospital.
Calling hours will be Thursday, May 10, 6:00 to 9:00 at Bissler and Sons Funeral Home, 628 W. Main St. in Kent. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 340 N. Main St, Hudson, at 11:00 Friday, with the Rev. Edward Kordas officiating. Friends may, also, call one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Streetsboro.
