Carl J. Bauer

Carl “Fun” Joseph Bauer, 54, passed away the morning of February 22, 2024 at the Cleveland Clinic surrounded by love, family, and friends. He bravely battled Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS) and heart-related challenges throughout his life.

Carl “Scott” to his family was born to Andrea and Carl Bauer on December 27, 1969. He was a happy child, who loved making everyone laugh. In 1997, he married Beth Farrell, and they had a wonderful daughter, Evelyn “Evie” Bauer, now a junior at Oberlin College. Carl deeply loved and cared for his family (including many rescue dogs) and was an exemplary father. Although Carl and Beth divorced, they remained friends and shared great joy over the many achievements of their beloved daughter.

In 1999, Carl completed his Bachelor of Education while working for Kent State University food service. He taught at Katherine Thomas Elementary School in Windham, Hope Academy in Cleveland, and Edge Academy in Akron. He is remembered as a fun and compassionate teacher with a great love for all his students.

After retiring from teaching, Carl devoted himself to making a positive impact on his community through healthy food by founding GRAZERS Restaurant in Kent with Stacey Lasher. Carl’s employees remember him as a kind boss who always made them laugh with his "dad jokes."

Carl had many passions and hobbies including comedy, cooking, music, and drawing. His great joy in living left a lasting impact on everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Evie (Emerson); mother Andrea; sister Stephanie Wright; nephew DJ Wright (Allie); partner Stacey; Stacey’s son Xander Moran; his former wife Beth and her family, as well as his “Potluck” and GRAZERS friends.

As per Carl’s wishes, there will be no funeral or formal memorial services. Donations in Carl’s memory can be made to Evelyn Mae Bauer, ℅ Chase Bank, 9163 OH-43, Streetsboro, OH 44241 or any Chase Bank Branch to help with Evie’s Oberlin College expenses would be appreciated.
