Carl E. Singleton, 78, of Franklin Twp, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Robinson Memorial Hospital. He was born February 28, 1931 in Exchange, WV to Albert and Fannie (Singleton) Singleton. Carl was a veteran of the Army serving in Germany. He worked as a carpenter for Umbaugh Pole Building Company. Carl enjoyed hunting and sports, especially the Cleveland Browns and Indians. He is survived by sons, Carl (Sally) Singleton Jr. of Rootstown and Mark Singleton of Rootstown; daughters, Wanemia (Anthony) Fulst of Ravenna, Cathy Murton of Rootstown, Jamie (David) Hall of Streetsboro and Melissa (Mark) Blaha of Twinsburg; fourteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sisters, Luverna James of Gassaway, WV and Carol (John) Danes of Diamond. He was preceded in death by his son, Russell Singleton; grandson, Mark Singleton Jr.; and sisters, Toots, Betty, Freda and Lucille. Calling hours will be held 6-8 PM Thursday, January 28 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent, where funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 29 with Rev. Harry O. Harvey officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Streetsboro. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Animal Protective League, 8122 Infirmary Road, Ravenna, OH 44266.
