Charles A. Barholt

Charles A. Barholt, 72, of Kent, died Saturday, December 26, 2015 at UH Portage Medical Center.

He was born October 13, 1943 in Garrettsville, to Charles E. and Helen A. (Gardener) Barholt. He was a veteran of the Navy during the Vietnam War. Charles worked for Polson Rubber Company in Garrettsville for 13 years and was active in the Rubber Workers Union. He then worked for Western-Southern Insurance as a Representative, and then he was employed by Hemmelgarn & Sons in Kent, where he met Paula, his wife of 33 years. Most recently he was a custodian for the Kent City Schools for 16 years. He was a member of St. Patrick Church in Kent, the Brady Lake Lions Club and the Acker-Moore American Legion in Stow and the Kent Browns Backers. He was an avid sports fan, animal lover and baker.

He is survived by his wife, Paula (Meluch) Barholt, whom he married on September 4, 1982; sons, Patrick Barholt of Kent and Vincent (Wendy Ebner) Barholt of Hartville; daughter, Elizabeth Barholt of Kent; mother-in-law, Helen Louise Meluch of Kent; nephew, Tom Ferry of Nevada; nieces, Susan (Charlie) Soltis of Marion, Judy Beno of Mississippi, Jill (Jim) Corbett of Shalersville and Donna Ferry of Newton Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. and Helen Barholt; sister and brother-in-law, Priscilla and Glen Ferry; nephews, Tim and Scott Ferry.

Funeral services will be held 8:00 PM Wednesday, December 30th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory with Father Richard Pentello officiating. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, December 30 from 6 PM until the time of service.
