Charles F. "Charlie" Hawkins, 62, of Kent, died suddenly Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at his home.
He was born December 12, 1951 in Cleveland, to Christopher and Bernita Angela (LaLiberte'Daigneaux) Hawkins. Charles graduated from Kent Roosevelt High School in 1970, then entered the Air Force serving during the Vietnam War. He was an avid sports fan especially of the Indians and Browns. Charles loved and collected music and was a voracious reader.
He is survived by his son, Colin Hawkins of Severna Park, MD; daughters, Melissa Hawkins and Amy Hawkins both of Akron; grandchildren, Jason and Daisha Hawkins; mother, Bernita (LaLiberte'Daigneaux) Hawkins of Kent; brother, Christopher Hawkins Jr. of Comfort, NC; sisters, Stephanie (Jerry) Pizer of Silver Spring, MD, Diane (Paul) Eggert of Birmingham, AL, Leigh (Pete) Barber of Statesboro, GA and Pam (Dan Szakal) Bozica of Kent; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Christopher Hawkins Sr.; daughter, Sarah Hawkins; and brother, Greg Hawkins.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, February 22nd at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home, where calling hours will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of services.
