Charles W. Palmer Sr., 77, of Brimfield, died Sunday, April 24, 2016 at his home.
He was born January 11, 1939 in Spencer, WV to Emmett C. and Phyllis I. (Williams) Palmer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber. He had been active in the Boy Scouts of America Troop 261; Portage County Firefighter's Association; Soap Box Derby; Goodyear Blue and Gold Club; and the Brimfield Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Mary E. (Jobling) Palmer, whom he married on January 16, 1960; sons, Charles W. (Rose) Palmer Jr. of Kent and David C. (Lorrey) Palmer of Brimfield; daughter, Phyllis A. Palmer of Brimfield; grandchildren, Amanda (Dave) Senn of Tallmadge and Chad Palmer of Kent; great granddaughter, AnnaRose Senn; sister, Shirley Cumberlidge of Akron; nephew, Eric (Connie) Cumberlidge of Akron; special cousin, Karen Jones; and special neighbors, Jeanne Carter and the Evans Family.
The family would like to thank the Robinson Memorial Visiting Nurses; and Leigh and Pam, his physical therapists at Altercare.
Calling hours will be held 4-7 PM Thursday, April 28th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory in Kent concluding with a short reading by Chief Robert Rasnick officiating. Private burial will be held at Restland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brimfield Fire Department, 1333 Tallmadge Road, Brimfield OH 44240.
