Charlotte Ann (LeSuer) Doherty died peacefully on March 1st surrounded by family. She is now home with her Lord and Savior and is singing hymns with all the angels.
Here are her words. "I was born to C. Karl and Iva (VanEpps) LeSuer on February 19, 1939 at the Corry Hospital in Corry, PA the 8th child of nine. Originally from Union City, PA, the family moved to Willoughby, Ohio when I was 13 and then to Kirtland, when I was a junior in high school. That is where I met my beloved husband, Ralph, and after his training in the Marine Corps we were married in Kirtland, Ohio on March 14, 1958. After his enlistment was up, we moved to Kent, OH where we made our home and raised our family. What a wonderful life it has been here.
Believe me, my life has not always been easy, but with the help of my friend and Savior Jesus Christ I have faced life with joy and expectation and pray that I have passed that on to my family, friends and coworkers. He has rewarded me with a most wonderful family including my sons, Ralph "Duffy" Doherty (Terri Beam), C. Andrew (Stephanie), grandchildren, Joel Michael, Jessica Susan, Kayleigh Christian and Kelsey Rees Doherty and Rachel Beam. They have been more than any mother and grandmother could have anticipated.
I have also been blessed with terrific siblings. My sisters, Eugenie Yvonne LeSuer (deceased), Jane Elizabeth Wright and Mary Ila Ring with whom I spent wonderful weeks every September at Sisters' Week and especially the ones we spent the last 10 years at Cook Forest, PA in a cabin in the woods. Love you all. My brothers, Theodore Robert (Barbara) LeSuer, and deceased Karl, Max and Neil. So many nieces and nephews any aunt would be proud to have especially Michael, Laura and Kathy who have been dear to my heart since the day they were born!
Thanks to all my neighbors, friends and co-workers whose lives I hope I brightened. I know you've been a blessing to mine. My 45 years at the Record-Courier provided me with the means to provide for my family with a home and all necessities. I loved my job and the folks I worked with over the years.
There is no point in listing anything that I did for my church and community since I did it to the Glory of God for His faith and trust in me and He knows and those who benefited by anything I've done hopefully have been rewarded. If anyone has a desire to provide a memorial please donate to Christ Episcopal Church Outreach Fund (118 S. Mantua Street, Kent, OH 44240). They do a fantastic service to the community and the world for as small a church as we are."
Because of the wonderful care she received in the last days of her life, her family would also like to suggest donations be made to the Akron General Hospice Care Center (3358 Ridgewood Drive, Akron, OH 44333).
In the words of her granddaughter Kayleigh... "Stupid pancreatic cancer…"
A celebration of her life will be held at Christ Episcopal Church at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 15th with Rev. Julie Blake Fisher officiating. The family will receive friends after the services until 4:00 PM. Cremation has taken place. Bissler and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
