Cherie Lee Craig, 67, of Rootstown, died Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Akron City Hospital Medical Center.

She was born December 29, 1947 in Ironton to Edward and Mary (Stephenson) Quinn. She was a U.S. Navy Veteran and a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna. She was the first female police officer for the City of Kent. Following getting her Nursing Degree from Kent State University, she worked at Akron General Hospital and Fallsview Psychiatric Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls. She then worked for and retired in 2004 from Grafton Correctional Facility where she worked as a Psych Nurse. She then has worked for Northeast Pre-Release Center in Cleveland. She was a member of many professional organizations.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Craig, whom she married on October 25, 1975; sons, Ryan Craig of Rootstown; daughters, Erin Tillson of Kent and Laura (Dennis) Jarvis of Sebring, grandchildren, Danielle Tillson of Kent, MaryHelen Tillson of Kent, Brandon Craig of Rootstown, Amanda Sara of Sebring, Rachel Sara of Kent, and Cassie Jarvis of Sebring; brothers, Edward (Giovana) Quinn of Green, James (Jeannette) Quinn of North Canton, and Mark Quinn of Akron.

Calling hours will be held 6-8 PM Monday, February 16th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 17th at Immaculate Conception Church with Fr. William B. Kraynak officiating. Memorial contributions may be made for the continued care and education for Danielle Tillson made to the family c/o Bissler & Sons Funeral Home.
