Cheryl Green- 11/26/1945-11/14/2021

Cheryl Green, Turner of Clay, was born in Canton, OH, the daughter of Hugo and Charlotte (Katowitz) Green.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from The Ohio State University, and her Master of Visual Arts from William Patterson College in New Jersey.  She began her career as a studio potter in 1970 in Ossining, NY, and also tried her hand at many part time jobs along the way, always tapping into her creativity with each task.  Cheryl was devoted to her work with clay and focused on functional pottery.  In 1980, she followed friends to Maine and continued making pottery, sending hundreds of thousands of mugs, bowls, plates, and other items out into the world.  In 1999, aging parents and a call for change led to a move back to Ohio, where she eventually settled into a cottage in Brady Lake with her life partner, Cindy List, fulfilling a life long dream.  Cheryl continued making pottery and expanded her artistic endeavors by painting furniture in unique patterns and creating one-of-a-kind pottery items such as face jugs and vases.  A diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease with Lewy Body Dementia slowed her down, but Cheryl never stopped finding ways to create art.  Her quiet wit and gentle demeanor made her a beloved fixture in the lives of those who knew her.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister, Diana King.  She is survived by her partner and their two cats, Charlie and Tom, and by her brother James Green (Elise) of Raleigh, NC and her sister Monica Green (Steve Rosenberg) of Moreland Hills, OH; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and loving friends all over the country.

A private burial will take place at the Foxfield Preserve, a green cemetery in Wilmot, OH.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Portage County Animal Protective League.
