On Wednesday, April 7, 2021, Claire Culleton, loving sister to Catherine, Carole (Thomas), and Christopher (Suleica), and doting aunt to Amanda, Brigid and Sean, passed away.
Claire received her undergraduate degree at Manhattan College, her Masters degree from the University of Tennessee, and her Ph.D. was awarded from the University of Miami. She was a Professor of English at Kent State University for thirty years.
Claire had a passion for many things such as baking and cooking, painting, music, and of course, 20th Century Irish, British, and American literature and culture. She has authored and co-authored six books.
Claire has been awarded Career Teaching awards, Fellowship and Research awards, and has lectured around the world.
She was the current President of the International James Joyce Foundation.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 11, 2021, at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent, Ohio at 1:30 p.m..
Claire was so brilliant in her thought, her writing, and in her conversations. The world will be a much duller place.
