Clara (Fey) Ullinger passed away on September 25th with her loving husband Ed ever present by her side, at their apartment at Kent Ridge at Golden Pond assisted living facility in Kent, Ohio. Clara was born in McKeesport , PA to Joe and Marie Fey, the 7th of 9 children, she graduated from St. Peter's High School. After working briefly at McKeesport Hospital, she ran off with Ed to be married in Jersey City, NJ on June 9th, 1945. After Ed's discharge from the army they moved back to the Pittsburgh/McKeesport area, where they lived in West Mifflin, McKeesport, and Pleasant Hills. In each of these, Clara transformed a house into home for Ed, and their sons, Rick (Edward Jr.) and Rob (Robert). After retiring from Westinghouse Transportation, Clara moved with Ed to Seminole Fl, where they lived for 25 years, until moving to Kent this past April.
A most gracious hostess, Clara loved to cook and entertain. A guest for dinner at her home was always made to feel like family, and never left hungry. Friends and family always looked forward to gatherings at her home, whether for a cookout on the patio, formal dinner at the holidays, or coffee and dessert after late night ice skating. Her home was always warm and inviting.
Clara is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Ed, sons Rick and Rob, daughters-in-law (whom Clara often said were more like daughters) Gail and Cathy, granddaughters Jaime, Elizabeth, Stephanie, Christi, and Jessica, grandsons Will, Steve and Mike, and 4 ¾ great-grandchildren, as well as her brother Maurice, sister Joan, and numerous nieces and nephews. Clara's family would like to thank the amazing staffs of Kent Ridge and Harbor Light Hospice for their fantastic, gentle, and loving care.
Condolences may be sent to Ed and the family, c/o Kent Ridge at Golden Pond, 5241 Sunnybrook Rd., Kent, OH 44240.
