Craig Joseph Hejma

Craig Joseph Hejma, 56, of Kent, died Friday, August 18, 2017, at Akron City Hospital Medical Center.

He was born September 21, 1960 in Cleveland, Ohio to George Joseph and Betty L. (Hejda) Hejma. Craig worked a landscape business for 20 years, retired from that and started working for LKQ as a Quality Inspector of auto parts. He will be remembered for his lifelong love of motocross that he started with his dad at the age of twelve, and continued to ride vintage motocross until his death. He restored a 1969 302 Boss Mustang. He also had a love of heavy metal and classic rock music. He also loved his dog, Seven.

He was always thinking of others, helping out whenever needed. Craig donated his corneas, tissue and bone to the Lifebanc in Cleveland.

He is survived by his mother, Betty Hejma-Sweet of Kent; sister, Melissa J. Hejma of Taos (Pilar), NM; aunt, Susan Ratzel of Atwater; uncle, Ernie Ratzel of Maple Heights; uncle, Bob Hejda of Huron; cousins, Ken Ratzel, Dan Ratzel, Mary Moroschan, George Moroschan, Dave Moroschan, and Richard Hejda; adopted family, Will And Karin Underwood and their children, Immy, Richard, Pippa, and Genevieve Underwood; and close family friends, Aunt Jane Craig and her children, Steve and Allen. He was preceded in death by his father, George Hejma; step-father, Richard Sweet; grandparents; uncle, Doug Craig; and aunt, Nancy Hejda.

Calling hours will be held 9:30 am - 11 am Saturday, August 26th at United Methodist Church of Kent, 1435 E. Main Street, Kent followed by funeral services will be held 11:00 AM with Rev. Douglas Denton officiating. Burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to United Methodist Church of Kent.
