Dale Lynn Monroe, 74, of Kent, OH, passed away on February 2, 2022. He is once again reunited with the love of his life, Marilyn. Dale was born on July 18, 1947 to Kress and Georgia (Warner) Monroe in Cleveland, OH. He grew up on a farm in Hiram, OH, Pioneer Trail Orchard.
He met his future wife, Marilyn A. Brichacek, of Cleveland, on a bus trip to Montreal, Canada, at “Expo 1967” (The World’s Fair). They were married the following year, on October 5, 1968. They spent 52 wonderful years together.
After living in Mantua, OH, for three years, they finally settled in Kent, OH. That is where they raised their three children, which have been the couple’s pride, joy, and loving responsibility throughout their lives.
Dale helped work on the family farm until 1968. After that he decided to start working for Samuel Moore in Mantua, as a machinist apprentice. He slowly worked his way up to supervisor in the Dekoron Division. The company was bought out seven other times throughout his career there. He stayed with the same company his entire career. He worked very hard for 40 years. He took excellent care of his family, who he loved greatly. He loved his Cleveland teams. He loved participating in many sports drafts with family and friends. He was also a high scoring bowler and belonged to his company league for many years.
Dale is survived by his children, Dale J. (Traci) Monroe of Medina, Mark (Julie) Monroe of Deerfield, and Donna (Mark) Swanson of Cuyahoga Falls. His grandchildren; Ashley, Dylon, Kayla, Josh, and Emily; Siblings, Carol (David) Myford, and Roger (Sue) Monroe; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn “Mare” Monroe, and his parents Kress and Georgia Monroe.
Calling hours will be held 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM Friday, February 18, 2022 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, followed immediately by Memorial services at 11:00 AM with Deacon Tim DeFrange officiating. Cremation in care at Bissler & Sons Crematory. Memorials may be made out to St. Jude Research Hospitals, The Wounded Warrior Project, or Portage County Animal Shelter. Family request all that attend to wear a mask.
