Daniel Joseph Schetz

Daniel Joseph Schetz, 78, of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, passed away 1 month before from his 79th birthday, from a short battle with liver cancer, surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at his home.

Daniel was born February 15, 1946 in Akron, OH to Harold and Marguerite (Neuroth) Schetz.

Dan was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who always put his family first. His skilled hands could fix any broken thing no matter how challenging. His knack for jury-rigging solutions, while perhaps not always elegant, never failed to amaze and amuse those around him. Dan’s witty sense of humor brought laughter to his loved ones. Dan’s love extended beyond his family to the creatures around him. He had a deep affection for all animals, wild and tame. Among them, cats held a special place in his heart. His little orange and white cat, Princess, a constant source of joy and comfort will undoubtedly feel his absence deeply. Dan’s legacy of compassion towards all living things is a testament to his kind and gentle nature. 

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Schetz, nee Skelly; daughters, Jessica Bell, (Ken); Leila Rollins (John); brother, Harold Schetz (Mary Ann); sisters, Marilyn Davis (Carl); and Virginia Davis; grandchildren; Aurora, Lilith, Vivian, and Roman; many nephews and great nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, January 31st, 2025 at Standing Rock Cemetery, 1361 N Mantua St, Kent, Ohio 44240. Memorials may be made to Summit County Humane Society.
