Daniel Joseph "Danny" Spano, 56, of Kent died Saturday, June 9, 2012 at
Akron City Hospital Medical Center.
He was born December 31, 1955 in Ravenna, to Samuel Joseph and Elda
(Siciliano) Spano. A lifelong Kent resident and 1974 graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School, Dan led a feisty and courageous life after suffering a severe spinal cord injury in 1980.
He is survived by his mother Elda (Siciliano) Spano Heinlein, brothers David
(Sedra) Spano of Charlotte, NC, and Robert (Robin) Spano of Tallmadge;
sisters Diane (Ron) Wood and Susan (Michael) Kunar both of Kent; nephews,
David (Emily) Poole and Dan (Janel) Poole, Damiano and Jordan Spano, and
Aaron and Marc Spano; nieces, Andrea and Meredith Spano, and Chelsea Heim;
great nieces, Adrianna and Alyssa Poole. Danny also leaves behind his many
caregivers, especially his long-time friend, Trish Recob. He also leaves behind
his beloved dog, Henry.
Calling hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday, June 11th at Bissler &
Sons Funeral Home, 628 W. Main Street, Kent. A mass of Christian Burial
will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 12th at St. Patrick Church with Father
Richard Pentello officiating. Burial will be held at Standing Rock
