Dave W. Dalton, 57, of Kent, passed away suddenly Monday, May 23, 2016 at Dr. P. Phillips Hospital in Orlando, FL.

He was born July 8, 1958 in San Francisco, CA to Lenin C. and Bonnie (Wimmer) Dalton.

Dave graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry; completed his teaching credential at UCLA and earned his Ph.D. at University of Colorado, Boulder. He was a professor at University of Indiana, Bloomington and Florida State University, Tallahassee before becoming a tenured professor at Kent State University. Dave was a contributing consultant with Solon Schools for the last 25 years and continued to consult after his recent retirement from Kent State University.

Dave loved spending time with his children, his grandchildren, his sister, his friends, and his wife Eve. He also enjoyed home remodeling, carpentry, traveling, cooking, beer brewing, beer tasting, debating, motorcycle riding and repair, listening to music (except country), boating, and many other hobbies.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Eve (Barnhart) Dalton; daughter, Jamie (CJ) Rhoads of Kent; son, Andy Dalton of Cranberry Twp, PA; grandson, Jason Rhoads; granddaughter, Emilia Dalton; sister, Lynne Dalton Neumayr of San Mateo, CA.; and nieces, Nicole, Michelle, and Laura Neumayr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Mike Dalton of Pahoa, HI.

Private family services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association Ohio Valley Affiliate, 5211 Madison Road, Cincinnati, OH 45227. Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory are handling the arrangements.
