David Alan Evans

David Alan Evans, 73, of Kent, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Akron City Hospital.

He was born July 6, 1941 in Alliance, to Mike and Berdine (Risden) Evans. Dave taught elementary, middle school and high school in the Streetsboro City Schools for 38 years. Dave's two passions were his family and American History. He was a member of the NRA, National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association and several history preservation organizations. He enjoyed target shooting and camping. Dave was an avid skier and served as the Ski Club Advisor at Streetsboro Middle and High Schools. He was a proud landlord and enjoyed helping the college students in Kent.

Dave is survived by his wife, Paula (Bechtel) Evans, whom he married on July 13, 1985; daughters, Stacy Evans and Stephanie Evans both of Kent; mother-in-law, Jessie Bechtel of Bowling Green; brother-in-law, Jim (Shawna) Bechtel of Oak Harbor; sister-in-law, Pam Bechtel of Bowling Green; nephew, Lucas Bechtel of Dayton; niece, Katie Bechtel of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Berdine (Risden) Evans; and uncle, Earl Risden.

Calling hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Thursday, November 20th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent, where funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Friday, November 21st with Kevin O'Brien officiating. Burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery.
