David R Helmling, Jr., 60, of Kent, passed away October 20, 2016, at University Hospital in Cleveland.
He was born May 29, 1956, in Cuyahoga Falls, to David and Mary Lou (Bentley) Helmling, Sr.
Dave was the owner and operator of Dave Helmling Excavating of Kent for 40 years. Dave was well-known for his Fourth of July fireworks display and party. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Sue (Wagoner) Helmling, whom he married on September 6, 1980; two sons, both of Kent, Trey (Brittany) Helmling and Drew (Ashley) Helmling; 2 grandsons, Jax and Cooper Helmling; father, David (Lynn) Helmling, Sr. and mother, Mary Lou (Bentley) Helmling, both of Kent; brothers, Dennis (Tony) Helmling, of Florida and Dirk (Julie) Helmling of North Carolina; sister, Denise Casamento of Rootstown; sister-in-law, Carol Helmling of Tallmadge; brothers-in-law, Bill (Sandi) Wagoner of North Carolina and Bob (Cindy) Wagoner of West Virginia; sisters-in-law, Carol (Ron) West and Karen (Bob) Kline, both of Mogadore; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Dwight and Darin Helmling.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 23rd from 1PM-4PM, with a Celebration of Life at 4PM at the American Legion Hall on Mogadore Road in Kent. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any Charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place. Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory are handling the arrangements.
