David Leo Lutz passed away on Monday, March 14, 2016, at his home in Ravenna Twp. where he had lived the last 27 years.
David grew up in Kent and attended Kent City Schools graduating in 1966. He received a BBA from Kent State University in 1978. A Veteran of the Vietnam War, he served in the US Army from 1969 to 1971 and was a member of Kent American Legion Post 496 and Kent Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3703.
David spent most of his life as a carpenter and general contractor. The son of the late Leo A. and Dorothy P. Lutz of Kent, David is survived by his wife and best friend Beth, daughter Aaren (Brett) Wiesler of Denver, Co., son Zachary Lutz of Brooklyn, NY, and son Zane Lutz of Ravenna. He is also survived by his siblings Patricia Lutz of Kent, Judy (Richard) Hirschman of Stow and Jim (Saran) Lutz of Stow, and leaves his parents-in-law, Norman and Sally Richenbacher of Hudson.
In life, David was always more proud of his children than anything else. He loved the beauty of nature and could think of no better way to be remembered than as a kind and gentle man with a dry wit and a great sense of humor.
Cremation has taken place. Calling hours will be from 4pm to 6pm Thursday, March 17, at Bissler and Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Private burial will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Portage County Animal Protective League, 8122 Infirmary Road, Ravenna, OH 44266 or American Legion Post #496, 1945 Mogadore Road, Kent, OH 44240.
