Rev. Dennis A. Meyer, 67, of Kent, died Monday, August 29, 2016 at his home

The Reverend Dennis Arthur Meyer was born in Dayton, on February 1, 1949. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur C. Meyer III and Margaret Dunlop Meyer.

He is survived by his children Douglas Arthur Meyer, Los Angeles, CA; Dwight R. Meyer (Lis Regula), Kent; John Derek Meyer (Elaine Chen), Kent; and Amy Kay (Kristofer Lindqvist) Meyer, Cincinnati; grandson, Kenneth Regula Meyer; sister, Julie Logan.

He graduated from Fairmont West High School, Kettering, in 1968 and earned his bachelor's degree from Cumberland College (University of the Cumberlands) in 1972. He was a military veteran, serving in the U.S. Air force on active duty 1972-1976. Reverend Meyer received the Master of Divinity degree from Methodist Theological School in Ohio (MTSO) in 1979 and was ordained a clergy elder in The United Methodist Church in 1980. He served in pastoral ministry in the West Ohio Conference at the following United Methodist congregations: Salem Heights; Good Hope Charge; Derby-Five Points; Bascom; Sharon Park; Marion: Wesley; Springfield: Story-Hypes; Kenton: Epworth; Ft. Recovery Charge; Oldtown-Union Charge; Greene County South Shared Ministry: Union and Villars Chapel. Reverend Meyer was an avid cyclist who helped organize and lead United Methodist High Adventure Bike Camps in the 1980's and 1990's, traveling to locations including Maine, Michigan, and Kentucky. He also enjoyed photography.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, September 1 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Dr. David Palmer officiating. Calling hours will be held from 1 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, 501 West Market Street, Akron, OH 44303.
