Dexter Reed Wiland

December 20, 1951 — December 20, 2015

Dexter Reed Wiland, 64, of Fort Myers, FL, passed away on Sunday, December 20th.

He was born April 2, 1951 in Ravenna to Richard C. and Frances (Reed) Wiland.

Dexter was 4th generation in the family insurance business, which he merged into Dawson Companies in 1993 to become part of a bigger entity.

Dexter had a larger than life personality, and he always knew how to make people feel important. You knew when you met Dexter you had a 'best friend' for life. He's remembered by all for being the life of the party. You knew when Dexter was in the room and there was never a dull moment. Love, Laughter and Loyalty are some of his finest characteristics.

Dexter's most known as being a family man. His devotion to his wife Linda, love for Tina, Sarah, Julia, Richie, in-laws and grandchildren is unparalleled.

Dexter was an active member at Twin Lakes CC (Ohio) and Fiddlesticks CC (Florida), where he met many of his dearest friends.

The Cleveland Browns were not just a hobby for Dexter, it was a way of life. Expect positive changes in Cleveland next season with the Browns #1 fan helping from heaven.

He is survived by his wife, Linda J. (Burke), whom he married on July 14, 1973; daughters, Tina M. Wiland, Sarah A. (Ryan) Markham of Kent and Julia B. (Jason) Griffith of Waldorf, MD; son, Richard B. (Jane) Wiland of Fort Myers, FL; grandchildren, Dylan, Gavin, Addison, Reagan, Josie, Lilly, Reed, and sister, Ann (Ken) Wiland of South Bend, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 23rd at the United Methodist Church of Kent with Pastor Dave Palmer officiating. Private burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers please send donations in Dexter's name to the American Diabetes Association Akron Area Chapter, 4500 Rockside Road, Suite 440, Independence, OH 44131. "….Big Time!!"
