Dimetria Toula Parsons

June 26, 1953 — December 25, 2024

Kent

Dimetria Toula Parsons, age 71, of Kent, OH, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at her home surrounded by family.

Dimetria was born on June 26, 1953, in Cleveland, OH, to the late Sam and Harriet (Pappas) Nickolas.

Dimetria was a 1972 graduate of Charles F. Brush High School in Lyndhurst, Ohio, and went on to attend Kent State University, where she majored in Communications and Theater. She was a Beauty Advisor for both Macy’s and Nordstrom for 19 years, retiring in 2010. Following her retirement, Dimetria stayed busy by working part-time at Kent State University. A devout Greek Orthodox, she lived the values she learned from an early age and applied them to her everyday life.

Dimetria was the very definition of selflessness. She put her career dreams on hold to raise her family, dedicating her time and energy to making sure her loved ones had everything they needed. While raising her children, she worked part-time as a preschool teacher, where she made every child feel special, capable, and important. Her nurturing nature created a safe, encouraging space where children adored her, and she became a beloved figure in their lives.

During her time at Kent State University in retirement, Dimetria would often run into former preschool students who were now in college. They were always excited to see her, sharing how much of an impact she had on their lives and how her encouragement had contributed to their success.

Dimetria had a beautiful smile that could light up any room and a dynamic personality that drew people in. She was a natural communicator, with a warm and empathetic nature that made everyone feel valued and understood. During her time as a Beauty Advisor, customers would come to her not just for products but for the connection she offered. She had a remarkable ability to listen, empathize, and make others feel seen and heard.

Whether it was a cancer survivor or someone grieving the loss of a loved one, Dimetria’s genuine compassion and kindness helped soothe their hearts. She would take the time to learn about their lives, offering comfort and counsel, always making sure they felt better after their conversation. This gift she had was what made her so beloved-people sought her out, some even driving from far away just to speak with her, knowing they would leave feeling lighter, more at peace, and deeply cared for.

Dimetria had a variety of interests that brought her joy. She loved to read, always enjoying a good book. Cooking was one of her greatest passions, especially preparing Greek dishes, though she had a love for many different types of food. Music also played a big part in her life, and she enjoyed listening to a wide range of genres. Dimetria cherished spending time with others, whether in small, quiet gatherings or larger social settings. She had a deep affection for animals, always showing them kindness and care. She also had a great appreciation for makeup, fashion, and fragrances, and enjoyed exploring these areas of personal expression. Writing poems and short stories was another way she expressed herself, and she found peace in her garden, tending to her flowers and plants. She loved spending time outdoors, whether taking walks in nature or enjoying the ocean during her vacations. Above all, Dimetria treasured her time with her granddaughter, who brought her the greatest joy.

She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Parsons; her two sons, James Nicholas Parsons and Thomas Justin Parsons and his wife, Amber; her beloved granddaughter, Iliana Tomi Parsons; her sisters, Helen Huebner and her husband, Jim, and Sophie Halpern and her husband, Sidney; her late sister, Alexandria Georgitsos; her brother, Nick Georgitsos; her brother-in-law, Fred Parsons, and his wife, Carol; and her sister-in-law, Francis Schaufele. She was a devoted aunt to Joshua and Adam Halpern and a beloved cousin to Peter Pappas and his wife, Erin.

Private services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a charity close to her heart.
