Dorothy J. Cook, 88, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at University Hospitals Portage Medical Center. She was born and raised in Hyndman, PA on July 9, 1935, to the late Clyde and Louise Bingman. Dorothy and her husband Harvey relocated to Mantua, OH in 1956. Following Harvey’s retirement from Ford Motor Company, they returned home to Hyndman, PA until coming to Kent, OH in 2021.
Dorothy’s life was very family oriented, and she loved to quilt and crochet Afghans for her family. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten by those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her stepmother Katie Troutman Bingman.
Dorothy leaves her husband Harvey Calvin Cook, whom she married on May 21, 1955; her children, Victoria (Thomas) Weaver of Kent, OH, Jeffrey (Sherry) Cook of Streetsboro, OH and Gregory (Lorie) Cook of Hiram, OH; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren with two on the way; her sister Ethel Tompkins and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In honoring her wishes, Dorothy will be cremated, and a private family gathering will be held at a later date.
