Dorothy A. Crawford

Dorothy Arline Crawford (Harger) passed away on June 8th in Cuyahoga Falls after a long and courageous battle for life. Dotty was the wife of the late Robert David and loving mother of David Crawford (Su) of Avon Lake, Becki Chianese (Art) of Monmouth Beach, NJ and Deedi Leciejewski (Dennis) of Hudson. Dot was raised in Kent by her beloved parents, Ira Ports and Emma Rebecca Harger(both deceased). She and Bob were married in 1948 and raised their children in Avon Lake where she lived for over 50 years. Dotty was a longtime member of Avon Lake United Church of Christ, Group 4, and Women's Chorus. She was recently honored as a 65-year member of the Olive Chapter of Eastern Star. Dotty most enjoyed travel, riding her bike and the simple beauty of a sunset on Lake Erie. She cherished the time she spent with her seven grandchildren and felt blessed to have five great-grandchildren. Throughout her valiant struggle for life, Dotty never lost her faith or her courage. Never a complaint despite the failings of her body and she always had room for a Frosty. Her love, warmth and smile will be missed by all. She lived her life by the Golden Rule and her power of forgiveness and ability to see the positive will forever be an example to those who knew and loved her. A Memorial Service will be held at the Avon Lake United Church of Christ at 3:00 on Friday June 11th. Private family burial to follow. Family requests donations made to the charity of your choice in Dotty's memory.
