Dorothy Meyer, 91, of Kent, died Friday, December 1, 2017, at UH Portage Medical Center in Ravenna.

She was born October 24, 1926 in Sardis, OH to Spurgeon and Freda (Suter) Berger. She graduated from Hannibal High School and moved to Kent in 1945 to work at Twin Coach. She married Charles W. Meyer on June 1, 1946 and they made their home in Kent where they raised three children. After her husband died, and their children were grown and gone from the family home, she worked for Chris and Carol Martin and cared for their children.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Jimmy (Karin) Meyer of Brecksville, and Jerry (Rebecca) Meyer of Nashua, NH; daughter, Judy Smith of Kent; grandchildren, Michelle (Richard) Steele; Brenden, Samantha, and Jessica; great granddaughter, Diana; sister, Florence Straub of Monroe County; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Woody" Meyer, brother, Clarence Berger, and sister, Martha Indermuhle and many other family members and friends.

Dorothy was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church of Brimfield since early in 1950; and then the United Methodist Church of Kent. She was a member of the Crusaders Sunday School Class at Brimfield; a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, a Philanthropic Educational Organization. Dorothy loved to Work in her yard, garden, tend to her roses, and make buckeyes to give as gifts.

Calling hours will be held 9-11 AM Friday, December 15 at United Methodist Church of Kent. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 15 at United Methodist Church of Kent with Rev. Dr. David Palmer officiating. Burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to United Methodist Church, 1435 E. Main Street, Kent, Ohio 44240, www.kentmethodist.org.
