Douglas P. Morhac, Sr., 47, of Kent, died Monday, March 1, 2010 at the Kent Healthcare Center after a courageous fight against cancer. He was born September 25, 1962 in Kittanning, PA to Emil and Esther (Boyd) Morhac. Doug was a 1980 graduate of Ford City High School Ford City PA and Lenape AVTS., also in Ford City PA. He then attended the Electronics Institute of Pittsburgh graduating in 1982. He previously worked as a sales professional for Richardson Electronics, prior to that he was the Americas Channel Manager for Laird Technologies and Director of Sales at Dekolink Americas. He was an eagle scout as are his sons Doug and Ben and was active with the Great Trails Council. Doug was the assistant bowling coach at Archbishop Hoban High School. Doug was also the music man at Ben's Jackson High School hockey games. He had also served as Athletic Director and basketball coach at St. Patrick School in Kent. He is survived by his wife, Christine (Hrabovsky), whom he married on May 28, 1983; sons, Doug Morhac Jr. of Rochester, NY and Ben Morhac of Kent, OH; brother, Robert Morhac of Ford City, PA; sisters, Debby (Randy) Blose of Ford City, PA, and Cathy Cline of North Apollo, PA; and tons of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Esther Morhac; brother, John Morhac; and nephew, John Morhac Jr. Calling hours will be held 6-8:30 PM Saturday March 6 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory in Kent, where funeral services will be held at 8:30 PM with Pastor Elizabeth Hazelton officiating.
