Dr. James D. Robenstine, age 100, of Saint Marys, OH, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Vancrest.

James was born November 5, 1924 in Ravenna, OH to the late Nash and Anna (Selzer) Robenstine. He Married Esther Naomi Darling, August 16, 1947 and who died September 19, 1986 in St. Marys, Ohio.

He is survived by long-time friend, Jean Bower of St. Marys, OH; sister, Lucille M. Slama (Joe) of Rootstown, OH; 12 nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife Esther Robenstine; brothers Hurd W. Robenstine, Nash D. Robenstine Jr.; parents.

He grew up on the family farm in Streetsboro, OH where he worked with his engineer father. He graduated from Streetsboro High School in 1942, worked as a machinist before entering the U.S. Army during WWII. He served in Europe with the 41st Tank Battery, 11th Armored Division under the command of General George Patton.

He completed a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree at Kent State University and graduated with a Ph. D. from the University of Michigan. He worked in industry for seven years prior to establishing a career in college teaching and administration. He also worked for the U.S. Government for five years. During his tenure in education, he had worked as a faculty member and administrator at the college and university level of education.

He was actively involved with the United Methodist Church and served in many capacities over his lifetime. He had been a member of Rotary, the American Association of University Professors, The American Marketing Association, and the 11th Armored Division Assocation. His hobbies included travel, reading, gardening, designing, and repairing things, as well as maintaining and show his classic cars.

Burial has taken place at Standing Rock Cemetery.
