Edward Joseph Habowski, 84, of Kent, died Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at his residence.
He was born February 24, 1927 in Glassport, PA to Stanley and Sophia (Ginizdala) Habowski. Ed was a veteran of the Merchant Marines and then served in the Army during the World War II. He worked at Chrysler in Twinsburg for 32 years retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Federation of Eagles. Ed was a handyman and loved to work around the house. He enjoyed gardening, taking his family on fishing trips to Canada, and traveling the U.S. especially visiting the National Parks.
He is survived by his wife, Betty (Lorcher), whom he married on February 10, 1950; daughters, Anita Wedlake of Kent, Barbara (John) Habowski Baker of Uniontown, Carol Swigart of Kent and Jeanine Ray of Toledo; grandchildren, Tina (Matt) Darkow, Ryan (Kristi) Baker, Benjamin Baker, Shannon (Miguel) Witt, Samantha (Aaron) Loeffler, Paul (Kelly) Swigart III, Thomas Edward Ray and Heather (Keith) Miller; great grandchildren, Brayden Darkow, Olivia and Brendan Witt, Miller Edward Loeffler, Paul Swigart IV, Dillon Swigart, Logan and Zachery Miller, Amber Rhinehart, Logan and Zander Baker and Cole Ray; brothers, Robert (Irene) Habowski of Westerville and Walter Habowski of Newton Falls. He was preceded in death by his brother, Stanley "Stosh" Habowski.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, September 3rd from 3-5 PM at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory with a memorial service immediately following with Rev. Harry O. Harvey officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to National Park Foundation 1201 Eye Street, NW, Suite 550B, Washington, DC 20005 or the Charity of the Donor's Choice.
