Edward A. Sinclair passed away Saturday, May 8, 2010. Ed was born in Cadiz, Ohio on September 19, 1922 to Frank Raymond and Mary Ellen Sinclair. He attended Ohio University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. Upon graduation he served in the Navy for two years as an Aviation Electronics Technicians Mate. Ed married Helen Susi in 1944, while stationed in Michigan City, Indiana. After serving in the Navy he began a career at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Research Division in Akron, Ohio. He developed several patented technologies for Goodyear. He ended his forty year tenure at Goodyear as Head of Latex and Plantation Research, which resulted in travel to Indonesia. Helen and Ed moved to Kent, Ohio in 1948. They became members of the United Church of Christ in 1950, where he served on various committees. Ed was a member of the American Chemical Society, Association of Asphalt Paving Technologists, and International Producers of Synthetic Rubber. After retirement, he volunteered at Robinson Memorial Hospital and provided assistance for senior citizens through various organizations. He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Helen; daughter, Amy Sinclair and son-in-law Scott Morris of Tacoma, WA; grandsons Reid and Cameron Morris of Eugene, OR; nephew, Ray (Katie) Sinclair and niece, Marianne (Mark) Statton; nephews, Richard (Stella) Paysor and Ron Paysor. A memorial service will be held at the United Church of Christ, 1400 East Main Street (at Horning Road), Kent, Ohio on Tuesday, May 18th at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend David Pattee, senior pastor presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Church of Christ or a charity of your choice.
