Edwin Davis Rhodes Sr., 55, of Kent, passed away Friday, January 14, 2011 at his home in Kent.
He was born June 26, 1955 in Warren, Ohio to William Davis and Della Mae (Hanley) Rhodes. He was the consummate outdoorsman. He loved bowhunting, fishing, creating gardens and beautiful landscapes. He achieved the rank of 2nd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. He was a faithful friend to those who knew him - and to his family a hero. He will be missed more than words can express.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Helen (Barrett) Rhodes, whom he married on February 17, 1976; son, Edwin Davis (Melissa) Rhodes Jr. of Mantua; daughter, Christine Rhodes (Jason) Myers of Kent; grandchildren, Rachel Myers, Ethan Myers, and Colt Rhodes; brothers, Jack (Cindy) Rhodes of Girard, Wes (Diana) Rhodes of Kent, and Robert Wagner of Kent; sisters, Wilma (Jim) Bobek of Kent, Debbie (Ken) Keele of Kent, and Penny Roseling of Akron; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, (Sandy) Andy C. Rhodes.
Calling hours will be held 12-2 P.M. Saturday, January 22nd at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 at Standing Rock Cemetery.
