Eleanor F. Horning, 94, of Hudson, Ohio, passed away on August 12, 2015.
She was born November 4, 1920, to William and Irene (Auber) Humphrey in Akron, Ohio, and was a graduate of North High School in 1938. She married Raymond Horning in 1941. She was a dedicated homemaker and a loving mother to her boys.
Eleanor and Ray enjoyed square dancing and were charter members of Western Whirlers Square Dance Club. Their second home in Sun City Center, Florida, gave them great pleasure. Eleanor loved painting china, water colors and oils. She also enjoyed playing bridge.
After Raymond passed away in 1991, Eleanor moved to Laurel Lake in 1993.
She is survived by sons James Sr. (Martha) Horning and William Horning; Grandsons James Horning, Jr. and Steve Miller; Granddaughters Ashley Horning and Kathy (Donald) Thomas; Great Granddaughters Nicole Horning, Alexis Vehovec, Natalie Thomas and Rachel Miller; sisters-in-law Jane Humphrey and Mary Lou Horning; and special nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by parents, husband, brother, Al, and brother-in-law Louis.
The family would like to thank the Crossroads Hospice and the wonderful staff Crown Center of Laurel Lake.
Calling hours will be held 12-2 PM Monday, August 17, 2015 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent, where funeral services will follow at 2 PM, with Fr. John D. Terzano officiating.
