Eleanore Crystal Augusta Guckelberger

Eleanore Crystal Augusta (Horsthemke) Guckelberger formerly of Bath, OH passed away at VNS Hospice in Copley.
She was born 5/16/1919 in Essen Germany and moved to Monessen, PA as a young girl. She attended Penn State University where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority.
She married Carl Guckelberger, who predeceased her in 1996. She is survived by her four children, Barbara (Frank) Sterenberg of Hinckley, OH, Betsy (Ted) Welser and Carl Guckelberger III (Kathi) both of Kent and David (Valiree Green) Guckelberger of Brownsville, MN. She is also survived by five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She was formerly employed as a dietician, and enjoyed travel, gourmet cooking and was a charter member of the Bath Alpha Garden Club. She was a beautiful person who appreciated beauty in the world around her. She gave to others and especially enjoyed shopping trips with her son, Carl. On these trips she often found special presents for her great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday at Standing Rock Cemetery with Rev. Roger McKinney officiating. Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory are handling the arrangements. The family would especially like to thank Nurse Christine of Akron General Hospital and Dr. J. Payton for their compassion and excellent care. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Portage County Dog Pound, 8120 Infirmary Rd., Ravenna, OH 44266 or the Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Drive, Akron, OH 44333.
