Mary Elizabeth Lappin FACKLER, passed away on October 9, 2010. Born on February 13, 1916, to Harley G. and Edith Myers Lappin in Akron, OH. She was a lifelong member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Kent where she taught Sunday School, was a greeter and served as a Deaconess. In addition to her association with the church, she was active in Kent Sorosis, Chestnut Society, and Coterie I. She worked many years in the Student Teaching Office at Kent State University and was a long-time volunteer at Robinson Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her son, James (Ann) Fackler of Lexington, KY and daughter, Susan (Robert) Sykes of Hopkins, MN; grandsons Greg and Tedd Fackler; sister-in-law Betty Lappin, brother-in-law, David Bradley, a niece and four nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman E. Fackler, granddaughter, Catherine (Kitsy) Sykes, sister Edith Louise Lappin Bradley and brother Harley Lappin. Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 15 at Laurel Lake Retirement Community, Hudson. Private internment. The family will greet callers one hour before the service.
